New Hymnal Purchase Planned

 The ELCA came out with a new hymnal, the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal, two years ago. The Worship and Music Ministry team (WAMM) considered whether or not to purchase the new book, and has decided that it would be in the best interests of DMLC to replace the old green Lutheran Book of Worship and With One Voice with this hymnal.

Information that we used to make this decision:
-         LBW is 36 years old; With One Voice is 15 years old
-         The new book consolidates the music and liturgy from these books, eliminates a few songs, and adds additional new music. The old liturgy is still included, as well as new liturgy settings.
-         This would mean one book rather than two in the pew racks.
-         New books will provide continuity with other ELCA congregations.
*New members and visitors have noticed we do not have new books. They have used the books at other churches and wonder why we don’t have them
*By having the new books our members worshiping in other ELCA churches will be familiar with the text and have a better worship experience.
-         We are already using some music from the new hymnal
-         Separate praise music will still be incorporated into services to enhance worship

WAMM would like to have the hymnals for the new fall worship schedule that begins on Rally Sunday.

You are invited to participate in the acquisition of the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship Pew Edition Hymnal for Dr. Martin Luther Church by purchasing and donating copies.   The cost of each hymnal is $22.00 which will include a bookplate with the information you request printed on it to be placed in the book(s) purchased.
