Topic: Holy Hunger: Are you hungry for a breakfast biscuit or a break?

  Scripture
“My soul will be satisfied as with the riches of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise You” – Psalm 63:5

  Message
Most of us constantly hold ourselves in check about food, relationships, careers, stuffing our desires as if sheer determination can keep the lid on our longings.  Don’t despise desire. Your desire is divinely inspired, you were created to satisfy that longing, and it is called wholeness. Come to the awareness that Hunger is Holy; our desires are God-given.  Why else would the 1st petition in the Lord’s Prayer be for daily bread?  Our souls know different kinds of hunger (physical, emotional, spiritual, and creative) but we possess the ability to distinguish our hungers.?

  Food for Thought

Ask your body, where do you feel neglected?

Ask your mind, what feeds you intellectually?

Ask your heart, who do you love and who loves you?

Ask your soul, what is your spiritual anchor?

What practices connect you with your Source?

  Prayer

     Oh God,

Thank You for the call to come up to a higher place.

Still my mind and turn my thoughts to the longings of my heart.

May I find that only You can truly satisfy the longing of my soul.

May I eat when I’m hungry, drink when I’m thirsty, sleep when I’m tired, get in harmony with my body through regular exercise, and nourish my soul through prayer and meditation. Amen
