Topic: Learning to Love and Honor your Body?

  Scripture

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God…..?  Therefore glorify God in your body.”

                                               1 Corinthians 6:19,20

“The body is a sacred garment.  It’s your first and last garment; it is what you enter life in and what you depart life with, and it should be treated with honor.”-Martha Graham

  Message
Beauty comes from a woman’s spirit, the way she inhabits her body and her love of life.  Do you feel like you don’t measure up?  Well, God says you do, but you have to use the right measuring stick.  Our bodies are an essential part of our life with God.  The body is, quite literally, our vehicle for being – for giving, for loving, for moving, for feeling.   Choose to consciously love and honor your sacred garment God provided you for this lifetime’s journey.

These are some of my favorite affirmations:

“I can only feel appreciation for all the places my body has taken me and for all the memories it stores, and for the secrets it keeps.  For the children it has carried, nourished and nurtured, for those who have found solace and joy, for the exquisite pleasure my body has bestowed on me, for the exultation of passion it has expressed through me.  Blessed am I among women to live and love in such a beautiful temple.”

My body serves me well, and I am open to ways that I can bless my body by nourishing it with food, rest, activity, and prayer

  Food for Thought
Which people around me have positive attitudes about their body?  Why?

How can I keep my thoughts in line with how God sees me? (A unique creation, created in Divine Love)

Today, if I were to make peace with my body, what would that look like?

Prayer

Dear God,

As I rise up, I thank You for the opportunity to be on this earth.

I thank You for my mind and body,

I thank You for my life.

Please bless my body and use it for Your purposes.

May I rise up strong today, and may my body and soul radiate Your love.

May all impurities be cast out of my mind, my heart, my body.

May every cell of my being be filled with Your light.

May my body and mind both be illumined for Your sake and for the sake of all the world.

Amen
