Topic: Becoming Saints, Little Miss Perfect?

  Scripture
“I cry to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.”

                                          -Psalm 57:2

  Message
As I began learning to take risks and venture toward my calling, I began to hear a harsh internal voice, ranting at me for every small step toward my true self. I said, “You’re in my way, who are you anyway?”  She stared me right in the eye.  I knew her immediately, Little Miss Perfect.

We all have “angel wings” should we try to use them. We are all born with potential greatness. Look at those in the world who evolved to a higher level of consciousness during their lifetimes.  They were not made of different stuff than we are so much as despite whatever resistance they felt, they simply said “yes” at times when others would have said “no”.  Fear did not deter them so much as it honed them.  Something “called” to them from a higher place and they responded to what they heard.

  Food for Thought

What is calling to you?

What is the fear keeping you from following that call?

Do you struggle with your own “Little Miss Perfect”?

.

Prayer

  Loving Father,

It is only when I am here alone with You that I am able to admit

without embarrassment to the dream of being a saint that You have planted in my heart.

Nourish my dream however impossible it seems to me now.

Help me to understand that the only saint You wish me to be is the saint you have made me in my baptism.

In Jesus name,

 Amen

Favorite Quotes:

“For the wonderful thing about saints is that they were human.  They lost their tempers, got hungry, scolded God, were egotistical, or testy or impatient in their turns, made mistakes and regretted them  Still they went on Doggedly blundering toward heaven.”

               - Phyllis McGinley

“Instead of feeling discouraged by such reflections, I have concluded that God would not inspire a wish which could not be realized and that in spite of my littleness, I might aim at being a saint.”

               -St. Therese of Lisieux
