Topic:
The Great Collaboration Scripture For we
are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
- I Corinthians 3:9 Message God chooses us as servants of work perfectly suited to our personal gifts, even if we beg to differ. In scripture, feeling inadequate for the task we’re asked to do often seems like a spiritual prerequisite. But, we do not create in a vacuum. We are collaborators with the Great Creator. We need to view our roles as channels. Be willing to own your talent – gratefully, humbly, and respectfully - and then share it with the world. In the New Testament parable of the servants given “talents”, the parable was about creative risk. The one servant was afraid of the responsibility, so he buried his talent in the ground. Eventually, the servants were called to account for the “use of their given talent. Since most of us play it safe, this parable makes us a little nervous. It’s meant to. ng needs, and indicating our preferences. Food
for Thought Have you
buried your talents? Have you played it safe for too long? How are
you squandering your time, creative energy, and emotion by comparing the
size of your talents to others? Prayer Oh God,
Help me to see that the world needs my gifts as much as I need
to bestow them. Don’t let me turn my gifts inward, unable to be
given. Help me to realize unused gifts can become a heavy
burden. Help me remember that I am creating with You and that all
You need is my courage, creativity, discipline, devotion, discernment,
energy, enthusiasm, emotion, intelligence, imagination, inventiveness,
passion, and perseverance. |
