Topic:
Learning to Create
Boundaries, Is that ok for Christians? Scripture –
2Corinthians 9:7 “Above
all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
– Proverbs 4:23 Message Throughout scripture, people are reminded of their choices and asked to take responsibility for them. We must learn the art of protecting, nurturing, and sustaining all that we value. For most women, creating boundaries can lead to tense moments, tears, misunderstandings and hurt feelings, so we don’t do it until we are pushed to the edge of our tolerance. This is why many women stay quiet, unable to articulate any needs at all. Creating boundaries means speaking up, expressing needs, and indicating our preferences. It is our responsibility to say “no” to those things that dissipate our energy, distract us from our purpose, and others expectations that do not ring true for us. Food for Thought What
things keep you from setting boundaries and protecting those things you
value? Where in
your life do you feel your energy dissipated in negative ways? Where
in this situation aren’t you setting a boundary? Prayer Oh God, Sometimes when I try to
set boundaries I am afraid that the situation is going to fall apart and
blow up in my face. I invoke Your Light, show me how I might
value those things You have entrusted to my care. Please help me
now. May I begin again. I place this entire situation in Your
hands. May it be reborn. Do for me what I cannot do for
myself. Thank You for Your power and Your willingness to use it on
my behalf.
Amen |
