Celebrating Christmas
Christmas is just one week away. While the recent wind and rain may not match everyone's image of the season, we are reminded that the "Christmas spirit" remains, regardless of the weather.
I recently read a blog post by ELCA pastor Meta Herrick Carlson about staying rooted in this season. She suggests writing a family blessing to remind ourselves of "Immanuel"—God with us, and to think about how we experience God’s presence and the patterns of Christmas we hold dear.
Write out a blessing together as a family.
Name what is good, what is hard, and what is unbreakably true in your blessing.
Engage the senses. Notice the smell of an evergreen tree, the taste of a pie, and the sound of sleigh bells.
Make your blessing tangible with the help of an ornament or a candle.
Our worship schedule for the next two weeks is as follows:
Sunday, December 21st, 9:00 am & 10:30 am
Christmas Eve, 3:00 pm & 5:00 pm
Christmas Day, 10:00 am
Sunday, December 28th, 9:00 am & 10:30 am
New Year’s Eve, 5:00 pm
A special Note of Thanks to everyone who assisted with the Children’s Christmas Program on Sunday, especially Angie, Brenda, Whitney, all the teachers and helpers, and of course, the kids, who always make this so special.
See you in church!!
