The Cure for Loneliness

I recently came across a puzzle in the Merriam-Webster word game "Blossom" in which the word I spelled was “loneliness.” It reminded me of the work of Dr. Vivek Murthy, the former U.S. Surgeon General, who has spoken extensively about the loneliness epidemic. His 2023 report highlighted that a lack of social connection can be as harmful to one's health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Dr. Murthy identifies faith communities as vital to combating this epidemic, as they offer a sense of belonging, support, and shared purpose. At Dr. Martin Luther Church, Jesus's commandment to love God and one another is at the heart of everything we do.

If you know someone searching for a church home, Holy Week and Easter provide a wonderful opportunity to invite them to worship with us.

See you in church!
