End of Summer!

It’s hard to believe this is our last weekend of summer! This Sunday, the last one in August, is the last time to bring contributions for Blessings in a Backpack. Once collected, all items will go to local school-aged children in the Oconomowoc Area School District. Beginning next Friday, children in our area who face food insecurity will receive ready-to-eat food on weekends from Blessings in a Backpack. 

According to research, the consequences of hunger are much more than a growling stomach. Poor nutrition results in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. We can help Blessings in a Backpack continue their mission of making sure kids don’t go hungry over the weekends.
