Lutheran World Relief Quilt Blessing

Our quilters at Dr. Martin Luther Church have been hard at work all year making quilts. Many of the 141 quilts will go to Lutheran World Relief for distribution all around the world. This Sunday, August 24th, we will bless the quilts that are on display in the church before they are packed up and sent out. We will also bless the items for the Baby and Personal Care Kits that we collected earlier this year.

We are following in the footsteps of the Early Church, as  explained in Acts 2:44-47:

“All who believed were together and had all things in common;they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.”

When we send out the quilts, baby kits, personal care kits, or the items for Blessings in a Backpack, we have no idea who will be receiving those items, but we send them with prayers, prayers of hope and love. Thanks be to God!

See you in church!
