Sunday School takes a break — Summer is on the way!
In 2011, my daughter and I traveled to Washington, D.C. with the students who were part of Plymouth’s Safety Patrol. We visited some of the most important sites, including the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials, Arlington Cemetery, where some of our group participated in laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
One of my more distinctive memories is seeing a gentleman with his family at the World War II Memorial. All of these places are hallowed grounds, and there is a spiritual aspect to them. Our guide, Marisa, helped the students understand the solemnity of the memorials, and I will always remember my daughter putting her hand on the black granite wall of the Vietnam Memorial.
This weekend, we pray for all those families who have experienced the ultimate sacrifice of losing a loved one in service to others.
Reminder: Because of the Memorial Day Holiday this weekend, we will have one blended service beginning at 10:00 am.
See you in church!
