Church Renovation & Revitalization
A recent article in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel shared the good news of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, which has undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation with the vision of addressing community and mental health issues in the neighborhood.
Like many churches, after experiencing a season of decline, Redeemer struggled to maintain members and felt as if it was on the brink of closure. In 2019, Redeemer was faced with the feeling of an urgent need to address the mental health issues that brought a tragic end to someone’s life on their front steps. That tragedy spurred Redeemer into action.
According to an article in “On Milwaukee,” Rev. Lisa Bates-Froiland says that after years of disrepair and a lack of funds, it was challenging to reimagine what the ministry spaces of the church might look like. Redeemer took on the task of envisioning how it might become a source of help and hope for the neighborhood. Redeemer is nearing the completion of their “FEARLESS AND FAITHFUL” campaign, which has raised more than $4.5 million, with the intention of reaching $6 million.
I share this news with you because I’m curious what ideas you might have regarding the congregation of Dr. Martin Luther Church and its unique position to serve our greater community.
See you in church!!
