Worship in the Park!

After a long hiatus, Dr. Martin Luther Church will worship at Roosevelt Park in Oconomowoc. This Sunday, at 10:00 a.m., I hope all who are able will join us on the day the universal church celebrates Pentecost, when all Christians celebrate the power and beauty of the Holy Spirit. We keep the resurrection of Christ by celebrating the Spirit of the risen Christ in our midst.

It’s fitting to celebrate Pentecost outside, where we might feel a gentle breeze or a strong wind, reminders of what moved those gathered with Peter and the other disciples on that day. The Spirit does not just come alongside us, but is breathed into us; a spirit of service, a spirit of love, a spirit of resurrection beyond death.

Last Sunday, we recognized our high school graduates. As our young graduates go out into the world, it is our hope and prayer that the words of love spoken to them by our congregation, the assurance of who they are as people of God, will be heard from our spirit to theirs; that they will remember who they are because of who we are.

See you at church!
