Catching Summer
The first part of my day is spent with a cup of coffee in my hand, sitting on my porch. I listen to the birds that flutter and fly around the trees and bushes close to the house. The geese and ducks begin their languid journeys around the lake, with their young ones in tow. As the breeze blows, I close my eyes and feel it swirl around. Along with my coffee, I am drinking in all the sensations of the morning. It is a wonderful way to begin the day.
On the way home from dinner the other night, we were compelled to find a good place to catch the sunset and were rewarded with two beautiful views. One view from Sawyer Road and the other view from the bridge on Oakwood Avenue. My daughter and I hopped out of the car to catch the ending of the sunset on Fowler Lake with a lovely silhouette of Zion Episcopal Church. It was a wonderful way to end the day.
In these times, the mornings on the porch, and the sunsets of the day, I feel the presence of God. My prayer for all of you, as I sat on the porch this morning, was that you could catch some moments this summer where you feel God’s presence.
See you in church!
